...Thank you for taking the time to read about our vision for the future of this ministry!

Two brothers coming to our home in downpour rain for some cereal, a can of cream, and a few other donations

With our hearts heavily burdened with the neglected and needy children of Abaco, regardless of their race or nationality, we feel the Lord leading to have greater focus on helping them.

With the help of many fellow believers in Christ here and in the USA, including Tampa Bay Ministries in Florida, the Abaco Children's Foundation has now been established. All the legal paperwork and a board made up of mostly local people have been set up. There are now plans to establish the Abaco Children's Center with the ultimate goal to work with Social Services to one day be able to provide a place for children who often have to be sent away to Nassau for foster care. All that is needed is personnel and a facility. There are plans to acquire land and build.

We have been praying about this need, and God has showed us that He has provided us with facilities to at least be able to start moving along with this ministry for neglected and needy children of Abaco. There is no way that we can take this on ourselves with our current situation with our disabled daughters, etc, and people are needed to spearhead this effort.

At this time, we have decided to pray for a ministry minded, experienced, mature and dedicated born again Christian husband and wife team to live in the church apartment for a period of time as the Lord leads to begin setting up and laying the ground work for the Abaco Children's Center.

Here are some of the criteria and suggestions. The couple must be highly recommended and provide documentation of good character. They must agree with our statement of faith and live lives reflective of their dedication to The Lord. They also must have their own support, as they will be responsible for their personal bills. No rent will be charged, but the couple must contribute toward electric bill and fuel bill. They will be allowed use of the church vehicle, and besides a full kitchen, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms, there is a washer and dryer on location. The couple must be FLEXIBLE and TAKE INITIATIVE, handy, creative, self-sufficient, able to take charge and make responsible decisions whenever our family is unavailable. Also, they must be able to work with others who will come to volunteer at the mission, whether occasionally, unplanned, on a scheduled basis, or a team who might stay on the premises on a mission trip.

Setting up for the Abaco Children's Center will include meeting with board members of the Abaco Children's Foundation and taking the first steps of beginning this ministry with the children of Abaco.

Some initial steps would be to:

Be in charge of distributing donated clothing, shoes, personal hygiene products, school supplies, toys, etc.
Help with and/or teach Sunday School, children's church on Sunday, and Wednesday afternoon youth group at the mission.

Hold after school activities for children at the church facilities or on the grounds such as any or all of the suggested possibilities:

After school study halls
Sports - basketball or soccer
Children's choir
Bible school
Christmas pageant practice
Music lessons

(All of the above are open to suggestion according to the couple's talents, as well as what day and time the activities will be held, etc.)

Secondary steps will include preparing and planning for eventually serving a daily meal to needy kids. Funds for this will held in one bank account that will belong to the Abaco Children's Foundation and be provided in accordance with the food supplies and also needs for the children that arise.

The final step would be to begin preparations for the ultimate goal of the Abaco Children's Foundation which is to take in children that are brought by Social Services that need foster care, etc.

We know these things will not happen overnight and take time, but we feel the Lord leading us to make this step to allow the use of the building He has provided us with to continue to be used for His glory in this way!

Please pray with us that God will send the laborers to His field so that this work with children can begin!

"But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’" Matthew 25:31-40.

"At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me." Matthew 18:1-5.
