A Message For All People Who Have Christ
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Tim. 2:19)
1. Those who have received Christ are saved for ever. John 1:12 says that those who receive Him (Christ) become the children of God. Those who have Christ are saved for ever because Jesus says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” God’s Word cannot change. “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.” (1 Peter 1:25). If you have received Christ who has promised to stay with you for ever, you have Eternal Life, for He is the Eternal Life. “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) Jesus says, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall NEVER DIE.” (John 11:25,26). Jesus says, “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER PERISH.” (John 10:28). Jesus gave His Blood that souls might be saved. (1 Peter 1:18,19). The Blood of Christ will never lose its power till all the ransomed Church of God be saved to sin no more. If you believe the Word of God, you will have assurance of salvation.
2. Those who have Christ must depart from iniquity. Jesus is holy, and all those who claim His Name must do what is right. It was for our iniquity that Christ suffered on the cross. “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities.” (Isaiah 53:5). Those who have Christ know that He suffered so that they might have Eternal Life. They will not practice sin because they love their Saviour. They will depart from iniquity. “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from ALL iniquity, and purify unto himself a people of his own, zealous of good works.” (Titus 2:14). If someone gets bitten by a snake, when he gets well, he will never want to be bitten again; he will stay away from snakes for the rest of his life. Before believers received Christ they were bitten by the serpent, the devil, and all were dead in sins. (Eph. 2:1,5) Those who have Christ have been healed from the disease of sin, and given Eternal Life. (Rom. 6:23). Now they never want to be near the serpent, Satan, again and they will depart from iniquity. If they play with sin again, God will chastise them. (Heb. 12:5,6). When a Christian sins he loses his joy, but not his salvation. He who made a mistake can find cleansing. “If we (Christians) confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9). Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
3. Those who have Christ must read the Bible and pray every day. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby.” (1 Peter 2:2). Anyone who will not eat properly gets sick. When a believer neglects to read the Word of God he gets sick spiritually and yields to sin. David said in Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Those who have Christ will be hungry for God’s Word and will enjoy talking with their Father God in prayer. The more believers pray, the more strength they receive to do that which is right. The devil does not like to see believers in prayer and will stay away. (Eph. 6:11,13). “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thess. 5:17).
4. Those who have Christ must witness to all. When believers do that which is right, all can see that they have Christ and will be drawn to the Saviour by their good works. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.” (Tit. 2:11,12). When children are given gifts by their parents, they love to show the gifts to all because they are happy for the gifts. God, the believers’ Father, has given a gift better than all other gifts, His well beloved Son (“…the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom.6:23) and they are happy to present Christ to the world. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matt. 28:19,20). It is my prayer that all who read this message will obey God’s Word and work hard for the Saviour Who first loved us.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
